Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy (CSSDP at Western)

Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy at Western (CSSDP at Western) promotes drug policy based on health, harm reduction, education, and rehabilitation. We are concerned about the negative impacts current drug policies have on individuals and communities. We promote drug policy that reduces these negative impacts, including promoting a health-based approach to drug policy, improving access to resources and information about drugs and their harms, and advocating for harm reduction strategies and rehabilitative programs that minimize the harms of drugs use.  CSSDP, our chapter's affiliated organization, is a grassroots network dedicated to promoting drug policy education and reform. We are a group of youth and students who are concerned about the impact of drug abuse and unjust drug policies in society and on our generation. CSSDP considers problematic drug use in society a health issue rather than a criminal justice issue, and advocates for appropriate responses to reduce and prevent harm from drug use. Through education regarding drug use and abuse, the realities of the drug war, our goal is to mobilize young people to participate in the political process at all levels, and dream of sensible drug policies, while fighting against counter-productive policies that hurt our youth. CSSDP respects the diverse experiences and identities of our members; we neither condone nor condemn drug use. Rather, we aim to educate and respect the right of individuals to make decisions about their own health and well-being. 2016-17 Executive Team: President - Elazar Ehrentreu VP Communications - Jason Lee VP Events - Yanzhan Wen VP Finance - Jane Maxie Meng Director of Social Events - Georgina Gifford Director of Promotions - Sara Wilson Director of Social Media - Kia Andersen Director of Fundraising - Tristan Ho
